The Lednice - Valtice area

As the name of the area says, it is located between Lednice and Valtice in South Moravia. The area is a complex of several historically valuable buildings.

The Lednice - Valtice area

In the first place we should mention the chateau in Lednice. The reconstruction of this building was done in the 19th century. There is a yellow facade and it has two floors.

The chateau was built in the 16th century on the place of a former fortress. The first references about the fortress come from the year 1222. One of the most beautiful rooms of the chateau is its library with a fusiform staircase.

The tropical greenhouse

The greenhouse belongs to the chateau. A lot of tropical and exotic plants can be found there.

Under the chateau there is an artificial cave. The chateau is surrounded by a beautiful park. In the garden there is a minaret.

The Jan’s castle

This castle was built in 1807 and it was used as a hunting castle.

The Chateau in Valtice

Another dominant feature of the area is the chateau in Valtice. It was built in the 12th century. It was rebuilt several times.

There are many other interesting buildings in the complex of the Lednice-Valtice area.
